About SevenCs

SevenCs is a software house that develops; chart display engines for ECDIS, WECDIS, tactical displays, portable pilot units and other maritime and nautical applications; digital maritime chart production and distribution software applications; and specialist professional maritime and nautical navigation software.

SevenCs is based in Hamburg, Germany and employs 32 professional staff many of whom have backgrounds as mariners, cartographers or mathematicians in addition to being software engineers.

SevenCs provides a range of complimentary services in addition to its software, including; software training; chart production consultancy; and customer support.

 

SevenCs also carries out research in fields related to electronic charts and charting.

 

Company History & Milestones

SevenCs has a long and proud history of active participation in standards development, and innovation in chart display, production and navigation software, including: 
  • 1992 SevenCs established.
  • 1995 First major OEM supply contract.
  • 1996 First generation ENC Tools launched.
  • 1998 First official ENCs produced using ENC Tools.
  • 1999 First official type-approval of SevenCs SENC format.
  • 2000 First generation ORCA professional navigation software released.
  • 2002 Incorporation of ChartWorld GmbH, our digital chart agent subsidiary.
  • 2003 First generation of CEACT inland navigation software released.
  • 2005 UKHO acquires SevenCs and ChartWorld.
  • 2008 HydroTeam alliance with Atlis, IVS 3D and L3-Nautronix.

SevenCs Ownership

SevenCs and its subsidiary company ChartWorld GmbH are wholly owned by the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO.)
