SeeMyENC 2.2.0
Free S-57 Viewer for Unprotected S-57 Chart Data
SeeMyENC supports the following unprotected S-57 data formats:
- ENC editions 1.0 and 2.0
- IENCs editions 1.0, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 (incl. bIENC)
- AML 10., 2.1, 3.0.1
- Port ENC 1.0, 1.1
- SevenCs directENC SENC, and
- SevenCs bENC bathymetric ENCs.
SeeMyENC allows users to zoom, pan within a chart, select different symbology and colours, select pick reports, and analyse the ENC data by evaluating the logfile generated during the chart-import process.
Note: SeeMyENC cannot be used with protected (e.g. S-63) ENCs.
SeeMyENC can be operated under Windows 7/8/10 (32-bit/64-bit).
Hardware requirements:
- 2 GB RAM
- 1 GHz CPU clock rate
- 50 MB free disk space

Viewing Bathymetric ENCs and bIENCs in SeeMyENC
Bathymetric data contained in ENCs is normally abstracted and summarised for general navigation. Where more detailed information is needed, SevenCs ENC Tools can be used to create so-called bathymetric ENCs (bENCs) from most common formats of digital bathymetry. The result is an S-57 data product that can be displayed either on its own or in conjunction with a normal ENC. Typical applications include dredging and piloting.
Inland ENC standard 2.4 introduced the concept of separate bathymetric layers as bIENCs. These can be loaded in SeeMyENC as well.
A sample bENC is included with SeeMyENC in the /data/examples/ directory.
ENC Sounding Checker
UKHO NAVWARNING (Number: 037/10 Type: NAVAREA)
In February 2010 the UKHO issued a NAVWARNING (Number: 037/10 Type: NAVAREA) regarding the detection of shoal depths encoded in ENCs using the EXPSOU attribute with the value 2 (i.e. shallower than the range of depth of the surrounding depth area). To tackle this issue, SevenCs created the ENC Sounding Checker for data producers to batch-check their ENCs.
ENC Sounding Checker is a simple command-line tool for MS Windows Operating Systems. It can be used to parse a single ENC or multiple ENCs (if operated in batch mode) and check whether there are soundings that are shallower than the surrounding areas with depth attribution. ENC Sounding Checker does not modify ENCs. Affected features are reported and written to a log file. The log files can either be:
- used as a manual reference for updating the ENCs, or
- imported into SevenCs ENC Designer software.
